Ronald de Jong
Ronald de Jong received his education at the Royal Conservatory in the Hague. His teachers were Wim van Beek and Rienk Joskoot.
He completed his studies in 1983, crowned by his degree for solo organ performance.
After that, he studied at the Institute for Church Music in Utrecht and obtained the certificate for Church Music for Organ with a high qualification for improvisation.
During his studies at the Conservatory, he was appointed organist of the Reformed Pax Christiekerk in the Hague.
Ten years later, he became organist of the Dutch Reformed Oudshoornse Kerk in Alphen aan den Rijn. Since 1991, he occupies the post of church organist in the Old Church in Zoetermeer.
In addition, he directs several choirs, amongst which is the church choir of the Old Church in Zoetermeer. He teaches organ at the music school in Zoetermeer.
As a concert organist, Ronald de Jong performs about 40 times a year. He has a predilection for works of Bach and French Romantic organ music (Franck, Guilmant, Widor and Vierne). He also plays many choral improvisations of Dutch composers.
As a rule, he concludes his concerts with an improvisation, an art which is dear to him.
A few CD's of his works have appeared so far, one containing improvisations at the organ of the Stephanuskerk in Hasselt (FECD 127) and the Lohman-Organ in the Old Church in Zoetermeer (FECD 150).
