Eugène Gigout studied at the Niedermeyer School, Paris.
In 1862 he became organist of the St.-Augustin church, and in 1885 he started his own organ school.
In 1911 he took the position after A. Guilmant as a teacher at the Conservatoire de Paris.
He gave organ concerts both in France and abroad, amongst which England, Spain and Italy.
