Alexandre Boëly was organist of the St.-Germain l'Auxerrois in Paris.

Amongst his most famous compositions are: Fantaisie et fugue en si bémol and the Toccata en si mineur.
His compositions were of influence on e.g. César Franck.
Boëly also composed for piano and brought Couperin under the attention of the public again.
