Alexandre Guilmant
Guilmant had a worldwide reputation and was one of the founders of the Schola Cantorum, where he, like Bossi in Italy, tried to rehabilitate composers from the past and regain public interest in them by means of concerts and his highly valued re-edition.
He composed many works for organ a.o. Sonates, 18 livraisons Pièces dans différents styles, l'organiste pratique, l'organiste liturgique.
As the organist of the Trinité in Paris, he was highly appreciated by Cavaillé-Coll, who granted him the inauguration of several of his instruments, among which were the Notre-Dame and the St.Sulpice in Paris.
