Willem Hülsmann

Willem Hülsmann was the organist of the Noorder Church in Amsterdam, the New Church in Haarlem, the St. Jan's Church in Gouda and from 1950 to his tragic death in 1989 he was the organist of the 'St. Joriskerk' in Amersfoort.

He studied with Adriaan Engels at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague and finished his studies in 1942.
He was a skilled musician, both as an organist and a conductor of choirs. He was able to lead several choirs to such a level that they could sing oratoria and passions. Yet, he became most famous as an organ expert.
As such, he was appointed as a member of the Organ Committee of the Dutch Reformed Church in 1953. While holding this post, he was involved with the restorations of a large number of Dutch monumental organs.
